Bob Flanagan was a performance artist, writer, and piercing pioneer who, with his partner Sheree Rose, incorporated body modification and BDSM into his life-long battle with cystic fibrosis. Rose loved his poetry and encouraged him to write more often, so she challenged him to document every single time they had sex for a year. Blunt and often mundane, these writings are also undeniably romantic in their own way.

Fuck Journal was first published by Hanuman Books in 1987. Using a printer in India, authorities deemed it obscene and destroyed its original print run before the books could ship to New York. Only 300 copies which had traveled with the editors to the US remained in circulation, so original copies are hard to come by. This reprint includes a foreword by Sheree Rose and an introduction by Johanna Hedva.

Published by Hanuman Books in 2026, this miniature paperback measures just over 4” by 2 ¾”. 152 Pages.
