Welcome Zackary, Brandon, and Elayne Angel
We’re a busy studio—even busier than we have been in the past. A lot of clients come through our doors, and we want to be able to give our full attention to every person who needs us, but if you’ve been in the shop over the last few months, you've probably encountered a bit of a wait before getting pierced. To tackle this issue, we’re excited to announce that we will be expanding the permanent piercing staff, and we have several amazing piercers scheduled to join us short-term this summer. Please help us welcome Zackary, Brandon, and Elayne Angel.
Zackary Weiss
Zackary is starting as a full-time piercer at Infinite on May 26, after many years working in Oregon. (And yes, we’re calling him Zackary, because we already have one Zach, and we don’t want to confuse the two of them!) We’ll let him introduce himself:
“I’m a native born Oregonian. I hug trees, live on a farm, wear flannels, beanies, and boots year round. I talk to too many strangers, won’t go anywhere without my camera bag, and drink coffee until I fall asleep. My favorite places to be are mildly lost in the woods, hanging out next to a fire, or sleeping in the bed of my truck.
“I started working for High Priestess Piercing and Tattoo in 2010, and after a few years of counter and apprenticing I started piercing full time in 2013. I spent the last eight years meandering around central and southern Oregon working for all of their studios. I most recently worked for the beautiful people at Robot Piercing and Tattoo in the one-of-a-kind city of Portland.
Zackary came out to visit us this past March and fell in love with the city, and we are excited to welcome him home to Philadelphia.
Brandon Simon
In other big news: Andru is expecting a baby! (Actually, Andru’s partner, Amanda, is expecting a baby, but you know what we mean.) Sage is due June 7, and after he comes into the world Andru will be working a slightly shorter, four-day work week. To cover this extra shift, Brandon Simon will be joining the team, working one day a week at the studio. Brandon is an outgoing friendly guy who's spent the better part of his 7-year career in the Lower Bucks County area. In recent years he has been making steady strides towards new career goals and education, and has recently found his 'forever home' studios: he has been the right-hand person for frequent Infinite guest Johnross Switz, working with him at Mean Street Tattoos in Bensalem for several years, and is, in his words, “overly ecstatic to be a part of the amazing staff that makes up Infinite Body Piercing.” He looks forward to meeting all new clients and can't wait to "give you all the fancies."
Elayne Angel
Lastly, in June Elayne Angel will be making her yearly appearance at Infinite.
For those of you not familiar with her and her work, Elayne has been piercing since the early '80s, when she was taken under the wing of Jim Ward and ended up as manager of the first body piercing studio in the world, the original Gauntlet in Los Angeles. She later started her own studio, Rings of Desire, in New Orleans in 1993. After twelve years (and shortly before hurricane Katrina) she closed that studio and relocated to Merida, Mexico, where she still lives. In 2009, Elayne’s book was published, titled The Piercing Bible: The Definitive Guide to Safe Body Piercing.
She has served several terms on the board of directors of the Association of Professional Piercers, including as the organization's president, as well as editor of The Point: The Journal of the APP. Elayne now tours other studios extensively, limiting her practice to nipple and genital piercings which have long been her specialty.
In addition to Elayne's impressive history, she is also just a lot of fun to have at the shop. She creates a positive and inspiring atmosphere for both her clients as well as the staff, and we always look forward to welcoming her back. Elayne’s calendar fills up quickly, so if you’re interested in scheduling genital and/or nipple piercings, book an appointment while you still can. Slots will fill quickly, and Elayne won’t be back again until sometime in 2020. She is taking appointments June 9-13 and 16-17.
